WHAT I THINK THE SONG IS ABOUT:
The song "Fox on the Run," as performed by the American rock band The Academy Is..., is a cover of the 1975 hit single by the British glam rock band Sweet. While the version by The Academy Is... was recorded specifically for the soundtrack of the 2010 romantic comedy film "When in Rome", the lyrical meaning remains rooted in the original 1970s rock culture, specifically addressing the dynamics between touring musicians and "groupies".

MY THOUGHTS ON THE ACADEMY IS...:
The Academy Is... formed as a band back in 2003, hailing from Chicago, Illinois. The group was formed when all the guys were still in high school. Early on, the band Fall Out Boy really liked these guys and took the band under their wing. 2005 saw the band release their debut full length album, "Almost Here". Soon they would be touring with the likes of Taking Back Sunday, Armor For Sleep and previously mentioned Fall Out Boy. The band followed up "Almost Here" with 2007's "Santi". In 2008, The Academy Is... released their highest charting album, "Fast Times At Barrington High", which peaked at #17 on the Billboard 200 chart. After touring that album, some members decided to leave the band and at first the remaining members were going to continue on to record a fourth album, ultimately, they decided to disband in 2011. In 2015, The Academy Is... reunited for their 10 year anniversary of their "Almost Here" album. They went on a small tour in late 2015 to celebrate that album in what seemed like a farewell tour. But, in 2022, the band reunited once again to play several festivals. After celebrating the 20 year anniversary of "Almost Here" in 2025, the band revealed that a new album was in the works. That new album, titled "Almost There", will be released on March 27, 2026. The Academy Is... is a pop punk/melodic rock type of band. As I said several times in this blog, I started listening to The Academy Is... in my "Taking Back Sunday" years from like 2000 to 2010! That's around the time I started getting into a lot of pop punk/melodic rock type bands. I wouldn't quite put The Academy Is... on Taking Back Sunday's tier, maybe a level or 2 below but they are a pretty solid band. Glad to see that they have a new album coming out soon and they are back to firing on all cylinders!
